Diagnostic Medical Sonography

ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE, 65 CREDITS

Riverland Community College logo

Sonography uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body, with no radiation and no surgery. Doctors use those images to find and diagnose disease. As a sonographer, you run the ultrasound equipment, work directly with patients, and give the care team the images they need.

This four-semester degree prepares you for safe, effective patient care. You train in five areas: abdominal, breast, musculoskeletal, obstetrics and gynecology, and vascular sonography. Most sonographers work in hospitals, clinics, imaging centers, and outpatient surgery centers
