3.49 Academic Affairs and Standards Council
Purpose
The purpose of the council is to provide direction for the college president in all matters included in academic affairs, including course outlines, award requirements, academic standards, course and program components, and the inventory of course and program offerings.
Applicability
Riverland Community College shall have an Academic Affairs and Standards Council which reviews and makes recommendations to the President of the College regarding programs and/or courses offered by the College.

Definitions
Members/Membership: Individuals with voting rights to approve, deny, table, or recommend withdrawal of curricular proposals, and to suspend or close existing programs.
Consultant/Visitor: Individuals who participate in a meeting to provide subject matter expertise on a program or other item being considered by the council. The consultant does not have voting rights.
Structure
In accordance with the 星空无限传媒 State Faculty Contract, Article 8, Section 2 Academic Affairs and Standards Council, the Riverland's AASC consists of 9 voting members, 6 of whom are MSCF faculty members (1 chair, 4 MSCF Faculty, and 1 MSCF officer) and 3 of whom are administrators. Members are decided at the beginning of the fall semester, and the names of the new members are listed in the Committee Charge sheet that is kept by the President's office. Alternative members can be designated at this meeting to serve in the absence of any of the original members.
The 6 faculty members are selected by the faculty president in consultation with the college president at the beginning of each year. The 3 administrative members are selected by the college president in consultation with the faculty president but must include the Vice President of Academics and Innovation.
One faculty member serves as the Chair of the Academic Affairs and Standards Committee. The Chair develops the agenda for AASC meetings cooperatively with the Vice President of Academics and Innovation.
The Director of Registration and Records is a non-voting member who attends AASC, and the Director of Advising and the Director of Financial Aid may attend to discuss items that have implications for their respective departments.
